Layout optimisation

Vind AI provides a wide range of optimisation options ready to go. Optimise turbine positions to maximise expected annual energy production (AEP) or minimise levelised cost of energy (LCoE). No expert knowledge is required to use the optimisation functionality, and it may use your custom turbines and wind data. The fast optimisation mode is ideal for quickly obtaining layouts for early business cases.

Regular grids

Regular turbine layouts are common in offshore wind. In Vind AI you may constrain the optimisation to always put the turbines in regular grids, and the optimiser will find the optimal grid orientation, axes spacing and row offsets.

Irregular positions

For unconstrained turbine position, use the irregular layout optimiser. It is the perfect choice for finding a highly optimised turbine layout, which takes into account the local wind speeds as affected by topography.

Micrositing

Improve existing layout with the Micrositing tool. By moving all turbines individually and incrementally, find slightly better layouts that have lower wake losses and use areas with better wind resource.
